How to Reach Batasia Loop?

From Kolkata or Sealdah, you can reach Darjeeling in various ways like bus, train, or own car. The distance between Darjeeling and Batasiya Loop is only 5 km.

By Air:

The nearest airport is Bagdogra. So Come to Bagdogra then book a cab to Darjeeling and to Batasia

By Road:

Darjeeling is connected to the major cities of India. First, come to Darjeeling. There is no need to book a taxi to come here from Darjeeling station.

You can reach this Batashiya by taxi at a cost of only Rs. 30 to 40. Many taxis are available from Darjeeling station to Ghum station. By them, you can come here

• Darjeeling War Memorial:

And as soon as you enter inside, the scene changes instantly. It is surrounded by beautiful trees and there is a martyr’s memorial. This martyr’s memorial is a symbol of Gorkha pride. As you wander around, you’ll realize there’s a toy train line circling here.

At the center of this place is a war memorial. It was built in 1995 to commemorate the Gorkha soldiers of Darjeeling Hills who lost their lives in various wars or conflicts since India’s independence.

This monument is to pay tribute to them so it is a very dear place for Gorkhas. There is a tall pillar with a statue of a soldier in front of it.

• Batasia Eco Garden:

The word “Batasia” means aerial space and there are numerous flowering plants throughout Batasiya. In winter as well as spring lots of flowers blossom. there are numerous unknown species here like Ginko Biloba. There are seating benches in the garden. The total area is around 45,000 sq. ft.

• Toy Train In Batasia Loop:

In 1919 The British made this marvelous railway track here, to control a steep fall of roughly 150 ft after Ghoom station.

The only reason for having a toy train line is that the trains that run continuously from Siliguri to Darjeeling toy trains or the toy trains that run to Darjeeling run in a circle here.

Rajesh Khanna’s movie Aradhana has a beautiful description of Darjeeling, but there is a lot of difference between Darjeeling then and Darjeeling today.
