The Darjeeling Rangit Valley Ropeway is currently under the joint management of the West Bengal Forest Department Corporation Limited or WBFDCL under the Government of West Bengal and the private company Conveyor and Ropeway Services Pvt Ltd or CRSPL
This CRSPL designs and maintains these ropeways. This ropeway in Darjeeling extends from Singamari base station at a height of 7000 feet to Tukvar cable station at 2500 feet, five kilometers away.
Darjeeling ropeway accident
The original route was 8 km to Singla Bazar on the Ramban River. A cable car ropeway accident occurred on 19 October 2003. Since then the ropeway has been closed for a long time. PWD finally gave clearance to CRSPL in early 2012. The ropeway has since reopened.
Where is Darjeeling Ropeway?

Share vehicles are available from the Darjeeling taxi stand to Singmari. The fare per head in the shared car is Rs 15. Get down at the Shingmari taxi stand and go a little further and you will find the stairs going up on the right side. Climbing up these stairs is the ropeway station.

Go up these stairs and you will find the ticket counter of Ropeway. But this staircase is quite steep. So, it is not recommended for elders

Wake up very early in the morning and go to the ropeway between eight and nine am. You can walk along the Chawk road to the ropeway.
