Dowhill Eco Park known earlier as Deer Park is situated in Kurseong on the way towards Forest Museum. There were lots of deer here. But nowadays only a few are seen hence the name Dowhill Eco Park.

This place is the best place for meditation. The cold wind, fog, and green nature are perfect for self-healing.

This Dowhill Eco park is located on the top of Dowhill, Kurseong. The park is a smaller park than others in Darjeeling. The park is bounded by a fence. Though this is a small park it is surrounded by dense pine forest.

Moving around Dowhill Eco Park

This park is one of the important parks in Kurseong. In your Kurseong tour, this can be clubbed with other spots. There is a special zone where Deer are seen but this place is not permitted to enter.

There are benches to sit on. In the middle, there is a fountain. The Eagle’s Crag Viewpoint gives a magnificent panoramic view of the valley. The entry fee to Eagle’s Crag is Rs.10.

How to reach Dowhill Park

From the main market of Kurseong, a straight road climbs to the Dowhill. This is the popular Hill Cart Road which connects Kurseong and Darjeeling. From Kurseong market to Dowhill Eco Park Distance is around 1 km.

The Dowhill eco-park can be accessed in about 19 minutes through one of two ways from Kurseong Railway Station:

1. via NH110 through the Baghgora Road and

2. the other via the famous Motivot Tea Garden.

Travel Tips:

It is advised to trek to the top of the Dowhill and then come back by shortcut root through dense forest. There is also a scope to travel by car to the top. The road through the pine forest is very charming and calm.

Temperature here is low as it is located at a high altitude.

As compared to other parks in Darjeeling there is a small scope for children. The arrangements are not enough. There are some slips, swings, spins.

This park is an ideal place for excursions for Biology and Geology students. There is a school called Victoria Boys’ School outside Dowhill Park. Dowhill girls’ school is very old. It started in the British Period. Its architecture is very beautiful, also the atmosphere

Visitors’ Experience:

People say this is a small park for kids like a small playground. They say this Park is not maintained properly. There is a water lake and it is not clean. The seating arrangement is minimal and no toilet inside.
