Sangser is one of the offbeat tourist destinations in Kalimpong that is slowly coming into the limelight. It is a paradise for nature lovers. Sangser is located at an altitude of about 4,500 feet above sea level and the Teesta River flows beneath it.
The Teesta River flows 600 feet below the village. Sangser village is also known as Sangser Khas Mahal. During the British period, the area where Sangser is now located was called Sangser Forest.
Most of the Sangser village is covered by forest and is part of the Neora Valley National Park. The entire area is under the control of the forest department. Over the years, many small villages or hamlets have been formed here.

The residents of Sangser village mainly belong to the Lepcha, Bhutia etc. communities. Agriculture is the main livelihood of the residents here. The simple and simple lifestyle and the serene environment infuse new vitality into your body and mind. In the morning, the call of unknown birds, and the red light of dawn take you far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

How to Reach Sangser?
The nearest railway station to reach Sangser is New Jalpaiguri. You can get a shared or rented car from New JalpaiguriΒ to reach Kalimpong via Teesta Bazar. It will take three and a half hours to get to Jalpaiguri. 81 km from NJP, there is no direct bus, take a bus to Kalimpong, then take a rental car to Sangser. Or if you tell the homestay, they will send you a car directly.
