Step-by-step guide to making Darjeeling’s momo at home
Here is the complete process of how to make Darjeeling’s momo at home:
PRIMARY INGREDIENTS:
- Wheat flour – 1 cup
- Salt – 1/4 tsp
- Oil – 1-2 tsp
- Water – as required
FOR FILLING MOMOS:
- Cabbage – Chopped 1/3 cup
- Capsicum – 1/2
- Carrot – 1
- Onion – 1 chopped
- Garlic – 5 pods
- Pepper powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1/8 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp
METHOD:
- Take wheat flour in a mixing bowl. Add salt and oil to it and mix well. Add water slowly and make a smooth dough. Keep it covered for at least 30 mins.
- Now to make fillers, take a little oil in a frying pan and add garlic and finely chopped onion. Cook for a minute until it turns a light brown color.
- Now add other chopped capsicum, cabbage, carrot and salt, sugar, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, and pepper powder. Cook 2-3 min.
- Turn the gas off and let the filling mixture cool. Now take the dough and make little round balls. Take a ball and roll it in a circular shape
- Take a small amount of filling mixture in the center and start making pleats on the edges bringing them together and sealing the edge. Repeat this to get more numbers
- Now place them on a steamer plate and steam for 10 minutes by covering a lid.
- Your steam Darjeeling’s momo is ready to serve. You can fry it and dip it into a mixture of sauces.
