How to Reach Tonglu?

- Trains from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri can be booked up to 120 days in advance. The most popular train is Darjeeling Mail or Kanchankanya.
- If you don’t have a train ticket or have a sudden plan, there are many buses to go. It can be booked from the Redbus app. Get buses to Siliguri from Dharmatala and other pick-up points.
- The bus will take nine to 10 hours. You will reach in 10 hours if there is no traffic jam on the way except for stopping for dinner once in a while. Those going by the flight will land at Bagdogra Airport from Kolkata.
- From there you can book a shared taxi or cab to your destination. From New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri first go to Manebhanjan. The full car can be booked for him or a shared car is available.

- The shared car will run from Siliguri to Sukhiapokhri. From there, you have to catch the bus to Manebhanjan again. Distance from New Jalpaiguri to Manebhanjan is 85 km and it will take about three hours.
- If you go by share car, the fare will be 300 to 350 taka per head. If you reserve the car, it will cost Rs. 3500 to Rs. 4000
- Book a car from Manebhanjan either Land Rover or Bolero which will take you to Tonglu. Bolero is much better than Land Rover. It is a heritage car but not comfortable. More people will cost less. At least five to six people are good.
What We Can See on The Way to Tonglu?

After starting the journey from Manebhanjan on the way there is Chitrey Monastery. Then there is a village Ramedhura and Meghma Monastery Let’s see our destination Tonglu.
Snowfall time in Tonglu:
At different times of the year, the appearance of this place is different. However, snowfalls and snow are more likely to occur from December to February. It will be great to see Ton-glu covered in white snow at this time.
Where to Stay at Tonglu?

- There are two places to stay in Tong-lu. Govt. Trekkers Hut: Ph 9088030683 Raju Ka Ghar: 9635690583 The location of Raju Ka Ghar is great. Kanchenjunga is in front of the homestay.
- Of course, the sky is clear for this. The cost of stay at Raju Ka Ghar is 1200/- per day per head though it may change season-wise. Eating and drinking is good.
Precautions in Tonglu
In December and January, the temperature drops below 0Β°C. So if you plan to go here during this time, you have to take winter clothes suitable for this temperature.
What to see at Tonglu?

- A one-night stay here is enough but if you have time you can stay for two days and if you have two days the more places you can visit and Sunrise can be seen from here.
- A bit higher up Raju Ka Ghar is a Nepalese burial ground from where the lower part looks great. Ton-glu is famous for its scenic sunrises and sunsets.
- But luck must be with you. If the sky is cloudy, nothing can be seen. Those who trek to Sandakphu from here never miss this sight. From here you can walk to Tumling.

- Accommodation is also available there. There are no special spots to visit. This place is ideal for enjoying the pristine hills.
- But very cold. But what more do you want if you see Kanchenjunga when you leave the house? Seeing that will pass the whole day.
- If you bring kids and are afraid of the cold, it is better to stay in Tumling. ‘Niladir Homestay‘ is the best here.
Dhotrey to Tumling Trek
If you want to do a short trek then come directly from New Jalpaiguri to Dhotrey. And trekking from Dhotrey to Tumling. This trek is fourteen kilometers long. This will be a memory of your life.
